This mat is as everyone describes it. A small bit of a eerie smell, a small slippery once in a while but excellent thickness and exactly as pictured. Washing it does help and with use the slippery-ness seems to have lessened for me.

Fantastic mat. Does the job, just thick enough to give the ancient bones some cushioning but so thick as to make your joints feel unstable. Other reviewers have commented on the smell – unroll it – let it breathe – the smell does not linger after that!

I was a small hesitant to buy this mat because of the terrible smell reviews; I am sensitive to smells. But, mine smelled fine right out of the box. It is a lovely blue/white color, exactly as pictured, which is soothing during practice. I place of protection’t found that sweating on it makes it too slippery. It’s very thick and comfy.
